The MindShare Top 50

Spider-Man: Brand New Day holds No. 1 at 27.8. The record week is over: last week’s 46.4 came off the biggest opening ever recorded, and a −59.9% second weekend is what a record opening normally does. $144.3M is still nearly five times the next film in theatres, $654.3M domestic in ten days is the fastest any film has reached $500M, and 27.8 nearly laps the No. 2. The Odyssey, meanwhile, slides from No. 6 to No. 21: $31.7M in weekend four, $461.4M total, past The Dark Knight Rises on the all-time list and thoroughly out of the conversation.

The new entries tell the week better than the holdovers. Ariana Grande’s petal debuts at No. 2 on 295,000 first-week units, her biggest week since 2019, with all twelve tracks on the Hot 100 at once. The Devil Wears Prada 2 arrives on streaming at No. 4 as the No. 1 title on Disney+ and Hulu simultaneously, the cleanest theatrical-to-streaming handoff the chart has measured. Football is back: the Hall of Fame Game lands at No. 11 on 6.26 million viewers, the most-watched preseason opener in five years and the first NFL football since February. And cable news joins the Index at last. Jesse Watters Primetime enters at No. 20, Gutfeld! at No. 22 and Hannity at No. 29, and the block confirms what the broadcast numbers already said: all three are Fox News, no CNN or MS NOW program cleared the line, and every one of them still trails the network morning shows. Twenty-one of the fifty entries are new this week, the most of any edition.

One reading note. House of the Dragon’s season three finale sits at No. 50, which looks strange for the week’s biggest appointment-viewing event until you look at the calendar: the finale aired Sunday night, the last hours of this measurement window. The 21 million cross-platform views WBD reported came over three days, most of which belong to next week. This is the chart catching the front edge of a wave, not the wave.
